Biche Friday, again?

Why are we doing it (again)?

WHAT HASN'T CHANGED SINCE 2019 Last year, we explained here why Biche Friday, the equivalent of Black Friday, is a key commercial operation for Pied de Biche.

In a nutshell, it allows us to streamline our structure by clearing part of our stock and bringing some cash flow back into the business. All with the goal of offering you new products each season and supporting the many investments made throughout the year. Among these, over the past 11 months, we have:

Several key hires

Including Mathilde, retail coordinator, Clément, production manager, and Louise in communications. These cheerful team members join our roster of 30 collaborators.

A brand new website

Freshly launched to provide you with better service and a seamless online experience.

A brand new, beautiful boutique

To welcome our Bordeaux clientele.

A fair offer

Since the beginning, our mission has been to offer you a unique customer experience by providing high-end shoes at accessible prices.

To achieve this, we have our little secrets, the main ones being:

Meticulous sourcing

Allowing us to discover the finest materials and the best craftsmanship.

No intermediaries

Our shoes come directly from the manufacturer to you, eliminating unnecessary margins and helping us reduce the final price of our products.

Limited stock

When we don’t opt for pre-order systems, we produce our shoes in precisely measured quantities. It’s better for the planet and for our cash flow, so why not?

Our thirst for progress remains unchanged. Craftsmanship always stays at the heart of what we do, along with our desire to keep improving and offering you better and better products. The quality of our shoes continues to grow with each season, especially with the notable arrival of the Itshide range. In Portugal, our artisans who handcraft what you wear on your feet are masters in their craft.

In short, on paper, all the ingredients were in place for everything to go perfectly. The recipe was supposed to work. But all that was before a surprise guest arrived. It starts with “co” and drains all our energy, you see? And this guest, it’s not the type to do things halfway.

Why are we doing it (again)?

WHAT CHANGED IN 2020
It all started in March. Due to Covid-19 and to protect everyone’s health, we were forced to close our stores for 2 months. A tough blow. Despite all the government measures to help businesses retain their employees, the entire world, including our stockpiles, was immobilized.

By early October, proud as can be, we opened a lovely new boutique in Bordeaux. Despite the warm welcome it received, a few days later, our three stores were (re)closed, holding full stocks (intended to face the two busiest months of the year) and the hope of recovering from a difficult spring.

Our manufacturers also suffered greatly from the health crisis with:
- Major supply difficulties (the entire supply chain was, of course, affected) impacted).
- Production lines have been operating at limited capacity since spring.

As a result:
Our collections arrive (too) late, our stocks are overflowing, and our stores remain closed.

More than last year, we need Biche Friday to continue supporting the jobs we've created, our rent, our loans, and our suppliers, whom we support more than ever.

There you have it, all the details.

Since day one, no beating around the bush; we've always been transparent with you. We hope these few words help you understand why the Biche Friday is a healthy operation for our business, and more than ever, necessary.

Discounts!

It's also an opportunity for you to (re)discover shoes that have marked our history at unbeatable prices, as well as some pieces from the current collection at advantageous discounts!

Any questions?

If you have any questions about our motivations for hosting Biche Friday or about the weather tomorrow, don't hesitate to reach out—we'll be happy to discuss it with you.
