Becoming invisible? The dream. To see without being seen, to slip everywhere. Especially where we cannot go. Traveling back in time? Even better.
All in all, the same conclusion remains: we don’t have those superpowers.

However, impossibility is not French, and above all, impossibility is not Pied de Biche. Ready? We’re taking you not to the end of the earth, but truly to Wonderland.

Hold on

Mind the rush, as the story begins long before our shoes are photographed. Dates, locations, model and outfit choices. These details set the tone for perfection which, according to Leonardo da Vinci, is not just a detail. Something to ponder.

Now that everything is set, squarely in place, follow us!

Step 1

Not far from here

January 2021. The offices in the 11th arrondissement are half-empty. It’s very quiet, perhaps too quiet. This means the team is busy elsewhere.

Metro line 3 then line 7. Destination: Île-de-France. We face a large steel door. Enter? We decide to ring. Alice opens for us. Let’s go!

Uplifting music in a spacious, bright hangar, steel mezzanine, vintage sofas, and several screens dividers fill the space. The atmosphere is industrial. Nice.

The whole team is there. Thomas the photographer and Thomas the videographer are busy capturing shots. Anaïs, the creative director, keeps a close eye. Marifée, footwear stylist, and Alice, graphic designer, never take their eyes off the shoes. Occasionally, communication slips in here and there. To the right, to the left, on the floor or on tables: shoes, lots of leather shoes for men and women. They are ready to strike a pose.

Under the spotlight

Their moment of glory has arrived. In industry terms, these are called "packshots." A tiny English word to describe a product photo.

Minutes fly by, and so do the pairs, now accompanied by Cindy and Guillaume, our models. Time for the wearing shots.
They wear sneakers, derbies, leather boots, and combat boots without ever losing their footing. It must be admitted, it would be a shame if they did. The creation hub leaves nothing to chance and even less the lacing. You’ve never seen laces tied so perfectly.

Step 2

Heading South

A few days later, we take the same approach and start again, this time in the South, heading to La Ciotat. The idea is to enjoy the sunshine, or at least hope to, and capture the spirit of this upcoming Spring-Summer collection in images. This is the lookbook stage.

We swap the metro for the train, and Haussmannian buildings for Provençal houses. Olive trees, pines, colorful homes, red tiles, and ochre facades. Ah, the South!

Without delay, the camera and photography gear come out, and our shoes still steal the show.

Well-shod, our models relax on terraces, explore the city, and hike through the calanques. Each situation calls for its perfect pair of shoes.

Between gusts of wind, we tell ourselves that, after all,
life in the South is pretty sweet.

And there you have it

After several days of shooting between Paris and La Ciotat, mission accomplished: the Spring-Summer 2021 collection is about to be unveiled. We pack up. Our shoes join their large suitcases, escorted like crown jewels by our team, who also head back to Buckingham (aka, our Paris offices).

And after? We return to the present. The journey is over. Well, so to speak, since the shoot was only the beginning.

The new collection is ready to embrace you and take you to a piece of land that resembles Louisiana, Italy, where time seems to stand still: the South, with a sea view (please!).
