Why do we host Biche Friday?
Very well. If you're here, it's because you want to understand more clearly.
If we continue with Biche Friday, whether it's the equivalent of Black Friday or Green Friday, it’s because this sales event is crucial for us.
To understand, we need to explain our economic model:
Stock management is the key: the more a company has stock, the more it ties up cash. And the more a company has cash tied up, the higher the product prices tend to be.
And that, we can't accept.
Because one of our missions is to offer you high-quality models at controlled prices. To achieve this, we must have precise stock management.
Unlike brands that keep increasing their stock levels endlessly, we produce small batches and then do limited reorders when we see that the model really appeals to you.
For some products, we even have a pre-order system that allows us to determine exactly, in advance, the number of pairs to be produced.
But it’s not always simple.
Sometimes we gamble on models that struggle to find their audience or sizes that are left abandoned.
All that stock ties up cash. We need to push these products out the door.
This is why we need sales events like Biche Friday. They allow us to free up cash flow by clearing stock and to recover funds for the next collection.
Cash flow that we also need to cover operational costs and pay our 18 team members, ensuring the company stays afloat.
We believe that responsible production is the foundation of reasonable consumption: high-quality raw materials sourced locally, assembled by exceptional artisans to create shoes built to last.
Last point: Biche Friday helps us streamline our business but also generates profit. These profits are donated to causes close to our hearts. It’s also a way for us to run our business wisely.
These causes are:
Sea Shepherd, which works to protect marine ecosystems and biodiversity. In addition to producing responsibly, we want to support those who care for it.
And Aide et Action, which works to promote education for children in France. Because we believe that it’s through education that we open ourselves to the world.
After their purchase, Biche Friday customers will be offered the opportunity to choose which association will receive the proceeds from the event.
So, we thought it was important to explain all this to you. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’d be happy to discuss it with you.
Pied de Biche.
