Why We Hold Sales

Why we hold sales.
Very well. If you're here, it’s because you want to understand better.
Some brands boycott or criticize commercial events like sales and Black Friday, only to clear out their entire collections in another form a few weeks later.
These inconsistencies bother us. On our side, we prefer to be transparent because if we continue with sales, it’s because these promotional events are crucial for a company like Pied de Biche.
To understand, we need to explain our economic model:
Stock management is the key: the more stock a company has, the more cash it ties up. And the more cash is tied up, the higher the price of its products tends to be.
And that, we don’t agree with.
Because one of our missions is to offer you high-quality models at controlled prices. To do this, we must maintain precise stock management.
Unlike brands that fill their stock endlessly and even restock just before sales, we produce small batches, then do seasonal reorders when we see that the model truly appeals to you.
For some products, we even have a pre-order system that allows us to accurately determine, in advance, how many pairs to produce.
Additionally, some are labeled permanent, meaning they are carried over from season to season and are never on sale.
But it’s not always simple.
Sometimes we bet on models that struggle to find their audience, or sizes are left unsold.
All this stock ties up cash. We need to push these products out.
This is why we rely on commercial operations like sales or Biche Friday. They help us free up financial resources tied in stock and recover cash for the next collection.
We also need this cash to cover operational costs, pay our 18 team members, and keep the boat afloat.
We believe that responsible production is the foundation of reasonable consumption: high-quality raw materials, sourced locally, assembled by exceptional artisans to create shoes built to last.
One last thing:
Sales help us improve our business, but they also allow us to generate profits. These profits are partly donated to charities close to our hearts. It’s also a way for us to run our business wisely.
These charities include:
- Sea Shepherd who works to protect marine ecosystems and their biodiversity. In addition to producing responsibly for the planet, we want to support those who care for it.
- And Aide et Action which advocates for the schooling of children in France. Because we believe that it is through education that we open ourselves to the world.
We will offer customers post-purchase discounts, to choose the association where the proceeds of the operation will be donated.
There you go, it seemed important to us to explain all this to you. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to discuss with you.
